Start with the accessible edges.
With the appliance stopped and safe, look only at a label already visible around an open door edge, the control area or an exposed outside surface. The position varies by model. Do not remove panels, reach behind heavy equipment or pull an integrated unit out.
Keep each identifier separate.
Photograph or write the complete model code, serial number and any product or service number. A displayed warning is a different identifier; record its letters and numbers alongside the model rather than in its place.
When the label is hidden
Write “model unknown”, then describe the appliance type, fitting and symptoms. A photograph of the front can help the enquiry, but appearance is not proof of model identity or compatible parts.
For a replacement discussion
Keep the existing unit’s details with its visible connections and operating method. A cabinet measurement or a higher model number does not establish a direct replacement. Suitability needs an assessment of the actual setup.
